The Harvard International Negotiation Initiative (INI) enhances international security and individual well-being through theory-building and education on the emotional and identity-based dimensions of conflict and negotiation.
INI advances the rich tradition of its base institution, the Harvard Negotiation Project, which has produced foundational negotiation texts, advised such leaders as Nelson Mandela and Jimmy Carter, and field-tested ideas in the crucibles of conflict.
Recognizing the need for new, psychologically sophisticated approaches to contemporary conflict, INI is also affiliated with the psychiatry department at Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital and works to expand the fields of both psychology and conflict management.
